Women Who Influenced My Life This 2012

This is an easier post to make compared to my last entry. I encountered such fine women who prompted me to improve myself or to discover more about myself this year.

I dunno why: Men inspire me to improve myself but women urge me to do so? 😯

Now, my mom is a constant influence in my life and as such, I will exclude her from this list. Of course, that does not say that I don’t consider her as a prime influence — she will always be one of the top sources of guidance and inspiration in my life.

The following people are relatives, instructors, friends, and celebrities. Some are also fictional, just like in my last blog post. Nevertheless, they all gave me a sense to aim for the betterment of my self.

1. Christina Aguilera. I was influenced through her song on her latest record, “Lotus”. The song, “Sing For Me” gave me conviction to not give up on my musical dreams and to believe in my own voice. Remember on the second season of The Voice (U.S.) where she coached Chris Mann? I feel the same way he felt.
2. Emerald Arianne Lo. I remember her input on my dilemma when I was thinking of how I was going to pursue a communications career. The words of wisdom that I would probably attach to her name are: “It’s a GOD-orchestrated plan”.
3. Erza Scarlet. A fictional character urged me! Well, maybe not really, but her character in the animé, Fairy Tail pushed me to be no-nonsense and to toughen up more.
4. Janice Cavatoni. My aunt from my mother’s side. She accommodated me and my other aunt when we went to Hong Kong. But actually, we go way long back: she cared for me back when I was a baby, while my mom worked as a store keeper. Family is for life, definitely!
5. Jemima Dove Comila. She’s informally, my adopted sister. She keeps me grounded with her advise and observations, when I have problems, on areas I don’t usually see or realize. Definitely a great little sister.
6. Linda Reynado. She is my musical mentor. My vocal coach. My music theory instructor. My musical master. She is the director of Baguio Music Studio and although I don’t have lessons under her now, I will always go back to her whenever I can for more lessons on music.
7. Norma Santos. She is my other aunt who accompanied me to Hong Kong. Or more putting, the one whom I accompanied to Hong Kong. 😀 Without her, I wouldn’t have set foot on Hong Kong and Macau and wouldn’t have discovered this love for travel.
8. Olga Ponso. She is one of my close friends ever since college. She is the funniest and the joke-cracker of our group. I’m so glad to have met someone who can lighten up any situation. Heck, even her laugh or the mere mention of her name is enough to liven up any tense moment: she has an infectious laugh and her name, for us, is synonymous with fun. 😀
9. Virmelyn Paleng. Another of my close friends since college. She is more of the “balanced” type. Like Jemima, she also lends valuable insight to situations I am in. Moreover, we share some things in common like mystery novels, blockbuster movies, and reality TV shows.
