I actually did not know that Finding Neverland was adopted into a stage musical in 2012 and 2014. However, I do remember watching the 2004 film, from which this musical was inspired from.  That 2004 film, however, was not a musical and thus, did not have this song. I believe this song was originally created for the revised musical, which will open this year on Broadway. I have not even heard the original version of this song, since as far as I know, there is no compilation album release of the musical’s song numbers. I am not even sure if “Anywhere But Here” is an original song of the 2012 and 2014 stage musical runs, or if it is a new song of the revised, 2015 run.

Anyway, original song interpretation by Christina Aguilera or not, it sounds amazing!

The Voice (U.S. Season 8) Top 6 Instant Save Performance Personal Rankings

OH MY GOODNESS! THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING! WHY IS IT LIKE THIS!?

#TeamChristina, both Kimberly Nichole and India Carney, is in the Bottom 2, WHERE THEY DO NOT DESERVE TO BE IN!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!?

And worst of all: KIMBERLY WAS ELIMINATED!! WHAT THE F*CK!? A standout performer, gone in an instant!? Not to be disrespectful to India, but Team Xtina’s chances of winning in this season drastically decreased. And I was really hoping Christina would win this season! Without a seasoned performer, she just again, might lose.

Why did it have to be based largely on iTunes downloads, anyway? It is not the most accurate gauge of an artist’s flexibility and prominence. People’s musical preferences change over time; and so must artist’s musical abilities. Let’s just see if this season’s The Voice Season 8 winner will still be prominent after a couple of years. Hah! Sure, it’s called The Voice, in the sense that the vocals are given much focus. But once the artists expire their contracts with The Voice and get out in the real music business, vocals alone are not enough to sell records.

I couldn’t help but reflect, the earlier seasons of American Idol had a better voting system.

*sigh* Anyway, in modern singing competitions, it is the runners-up who outshine the winners of these shows. Cue:

…Avery Wilson…

…and Jacquie Lee.

The Voice (U.S. Season 8) Top 6 Mother’s Day Dedication Personal Rankings

I felt that the Top 6’s dedication songs were better choices and turned out better performances than their regular Top 6 performances. Apparently, all they chose songs and performed them within their comfort zones but still, they really stood out. With that, there are changes from how I ranked them in my earlier post:

6. Meghan Linsey – “Amazing Grace”

There are many versions of this song (and I have listened to a lot of them), and thought that it would not be safe to have sung this. Still, it was a solid vocal and the solemn atmosphere of the stage blended well with how the song should be performed.

5. Sawyer Fredericks – “Shine On”

He is back to his guitar-playing and belting it out through the mic. I thought that this was a better performance than his “Take Me to the River” performance as it suits best with where he is now musically and as a person. He just is not the goofy type to take on up-tempo, dance-y beats.

4. Kimberly Nichole – “Free Fallin'”

Just, Wow! Wow! Wow! It is nice to see her in a seemingly laidback acoustic performance, but there is just no stopping that voice from soaring! It just sounded weird for her to sing something like this, but still, a great performance from a great performer!

The Voice (U.S. Season 8) Top 6 Personal Rankings

We are getting close to the finale and I do hope this will turn out to be an amazing season for The Voice (U.S.A.). With an awesome pool of talent, it gets difficult to pick favorites! But anyway, here are my personal picks from the remaining Top 6 artists:

6. Sawyer Fredericks – “Take Me to the River”

I’m not used to seeing Sawyer perform an upbeat song; well, not that upbeat, but probably upbeat for his usual style. He did have a very strong vocal delivery on this song. However, with a song like this, you really have to groove it. There were times when I thought he would attempt to dance, but he did not. I guess it just was not his style to sing and groove / sing and dance. Good thing there were dancers in his performance, or else it would have looked awkward.

5. Koryn Hawthorne – “Dream On”

Oh my goodness! This was an amazing delivery! Really strong, powerful, edgy, and it had a great build-up; although not much at the end. There were also some words that were difficult to understand, but dang! That was one awesome vocal!

4. Joshua Davis – “Desire”

Awesome performance! Not enough to really stand out, but still very good! He deserves to go on! Plus, I really love his soft, whispery tone. I said it before, and I will say it again: I love to have a voice made up of Joshua’s manly and soft tones with Rob Taylor’s falsetto and deep bass.

The Voice (U.S. Season 8) Top 8 Instant Save Performance Personal Rankings

And that completes the Top 6 who will be battling it out again next week! I was so aghast when I saw India Carney as part of the Bottom Three. Personally, I do not think she should have been there. Between the three of them, I would choose India to be saved. I was so nervous that she would be eliminated in favor of the other two artists from Team Blake, Hannah Kirby and Corey Kent White. When Carson Daly said, “Closest vote ever!” I mistakenly heard the word, “closest” as “Corey”, which knocked the air out of me. I was at the edge of my seat! Thankfully, two Instant Save votes went through and led India to perform next week.

It was a shame to see Hannah go because she really has amazing potential, but that is just the way it is.

Anyway, let’s get on to rank the Instant Save Performances this week:

3. Corey Kent White – “Somebody Like You”

Corey should sing more familiar country tunes like this. I actually did enjoy listening to his version of this classic country song, which I often hear on the radio where I live. However, for his performance, I felt like there was a part of him that he kept holding back, which further made me feel like he was not giving it his all. He did have a good run on this show and he will still learn more about performance; kudos to him for all he had done so far on The Voice.
