The Voice (U.S. Season 8) Top 6 Mother’s Day Dedication Personal Rankings

I felt that the Top 6’s dedication songs were better choices and turned out better performances than their regular Top 6 performances. Apparently, all they chose songs and performed them within their comfort zones but still, they really stood out. With that, there are changes from how I ranked them in my earlier post:

6. Meghan Linsey – “Amazing Grace”

There are many versions of this song (and I have listened to a lot of them), and thought that it would not be safe to have sung this. Still, it was a solid vocal and the solemn atmosphere of the stage blended well with how the song should be performed.

5. Sawyer Fredericks – “Shine On”

He is back to his guitar-playing and belting it out through the mic. I thought that this was a better performance than his “Take Me to the River” performance as it suits best with where he is now musically and as a person. He just is not the goofy type to take on up-tempo, dance-y beats.

4. Kimberly Nichole – “Free Fallin'”

Just, Wow! Wow! Wow! It is nice to see her in a seemingly laidback acoustic performance, but there is just no stopping that voice from soaring! It just sounded weird for her to sing something like this, but still, a great performance from a great performer!

Mother’s Day 2013

It was the long-standing endurance.
It was the patience despite anxiety.
It was allowing yourself to take the enormous burden.
It was the feelings you had for me within you.

I might never know how you actually see me.
Always, will I see you as my steady torch.
I may never understand your frustrations.
Always will I strive to make you proud.

For it was you who cradled this life.

It was the firm hands that pulled my little arms that I now walk.
It was the anger in every one of my illnesses that I now am strong.
It is the unstoppable force in my frustrations that I now am determined.
Most of all,
It is the smile and laughter in everyday that I feel,
Now and for life,

Happy Mother’s Day Mom!

When I was a kid, my mom would take me to church very early of every Sunday morning. Because we made it a point to be always early, we would skip breakfast, attend mass, then go home to have brunch. I remember back then when at times, I would complain of feeling hungry while in church. Once, I asked my mom why we had to skip breakfast, why we had to be early, and why couldn’t we attend the later services. (I was an annoying kid.) I didn’t like the fact that we had to eat brunch, which played tricks on my digestive system. I wanted to play and watch cartoons every Sunday morning. Plus, I didn’t like getting up early on a Sunday morning for something that we could be doing later in the day. I was lazy! (And a really, really annoying kid.)
